Located in North West Austin in Cedar Park, TX, Brushy Creek Lake Park is a superb location. With plenty of space to spread out, it’s perfect for big groups, or even intimate family sessions. Golden hour is stunning at any time of the year, and the tall fields don’t go away with the seasons, along with most of its greenery. Since it’s located on a creek it even has easy access to get in the water! It also features a bridge, mature trees, and plenty of places to sit and get cozy!
Right down the road from Brushy Creek Park, this park is full of surprises! You wouldn’t think that a sports park would have such a lovely trail, creek, and old built up train tracks, but it does! It’s a park that has a ton of beauty in a tiny space. Throughout the year in golden hour the sun hits the trail and trees beautifully making it a gorgeous place to shoot. Green grass, a creek, beautiful structures and trails, what more can you want from a location?
Jonesbrothers Park is a beautiful park located in the Texas Hill Country, in Jonestown, TX. Not only is it right on Lake Travis, but it has a half-mile trail that leads to a small waterfall and has towering trees on either side. In the spring, you’ll find beautiful blooms along the trail and depending on the lake levels, a small creek flowing alongside the trail as well. (Important note: recently, Jonesbrothers has started requiring a fee for those who don’t live within the city.)
St. Edwards park is a beautiful park located on the North West side of Austin. It features beautiful greenery, a small creek, and in the springtime, wildflowers a-plenty (as you can see in the last four photos from the session with JP and Cassie)! Then, in the fall, it features some gorgeous colors closer down by the water. This is a unique spot for couples, maternity shoots, or anyone who wants to be in the water and have a little more privacy than Barton Springs or Bull Creek.
Bull Creek Park is a beautiful park just a hike away from St. Edwards! Much like St. Edwards, it features a wider creek and more places to shoot near the water without getting directly in it, or wet at all. It has unique trees, a wooden fence, and it’s a short walk away from a dripping-fall (not so much a waterfall, but not… not a waterfall) and offers totally shaded locations as well as the rest of the beautiful scenery.
One of my newer favorite places to shoot! This little downtown square is Hallmark worthy at Christmas time, and generally just extremely cute all other times of the year. If you want to shoot somewhere that feels warm and has a cozy vibe, this is an amazing option. There’s so many options for backgrounds and creative backdrops to use to let you live out your main-character fantasy (I have one too, no shame).
I’ll be up front: I am in love with this location. All of the sessions you can see above were during different seasons, and each of them has their own unique beauty to it. Lauren & Britt’s (last two photos and the third photo) session was early April, Marissa’s session (first two photos) was in late November, and the Martinez family (photos 4-7) was in mid-June. Regardless of whether the trees are full, or the ponds and creek are lush, this is a stunning park to shoot at. As an additional bonus, it’s freakin’ massive.
Love the city more than anything else? Let’s venture into downtown then! Whether we shoot on South Congress, get the skyline at Butler Park, or go on a mural hunt, you can’t go wrong shooting downtown. Austin is one of the prettiest downtown areas to shoot with tons of color and charm. Plus, Butler Park is located just off of the 1st Street bridge and Riverside Drive and has a parking lot! Score! I always say that shooting downtown is the best of both worlds, since you can mix scenery with a fun urban feel.
No worries! We still have options! I live in Lago Vista and am happy to bring you into one of our private parks nestled right on Lake Travis. Or, we can discuss reserving times at different locations like Sekrit Theater, or getting permission to shoot alongside peacocks at Mayfield Park! Living in Austin is such a privilege not only for the people, food, and music, but also because it is surrounded by so many unique options outside of the city as well. Rest assured, we’ll find the perfect one together!

[…] Our shoot hit some great spots in this iconic Austin area. We ended up with some amazing photos from the locations we visited, including the unforgettable Austin Motel. Melanie and Jordan have such a great vibe, and they were down to take pictures even in the middle of the street! (This is a must-have shot on SoCo!) I had such a good time with them during their session. I love to explore new parts of the city, and return to old ones, with my clients (check out my favorite locations here!). […]
